Biryani questions

Where is the best biryani in Alpharetta?

Our guests rate ManaVindhu 4.8 on Google, and many of them write that our biryani tastes like home. We are a biryani restaurant and Indian kitchen at 11105 State Bridge Rd, Suite 140, Alpharetta, GA 30022, close to Johns Creek. We cook Hyderabadi dum biryani and four Andhra styles: Vijayawada, gongura, avakaya and ulavacharu, plus a vegetarian jackfruit biryani.

Dum means slow cooking in a sealed pot. The marinated meat and the rice are layered together, the pot is closed, and the biryani cooks gently in its own steam. The rice takes in the flavor of the meat and spices. Our Hyderabad dum biryani is made this way.

Hyderabadi dum biryani is layered and slow-cooked, and it is known for its aroma. Vijayawada biryani is an Andhra style: spicier, with bolder flavors. If you like heat, try Vijayawada or gongura. If you are new to biryani, Hyderabad dum is the classic place to start.

They are Andhra flavors. Gongura is a sour leaf, so gongura biryani is tangy and spicy. Avakaya is the famous Andhra mango pickle, and avakaya biryani carries its spices. Ulavacharu is a thick sauce made from horse gram, with an earthy taste.

Yes, 12 of them: jackfruit biryani, Hyderabad dum veg biryani, and paneer or mushroom biryani in all five styles. Vegetarian biryanis are $13.99 to $14.99. See our full vegetarian menu too.

Yes. All the chicken, goat and shrimp we cook is halal, in every biryani, pulav and mandi.

Yes. Any biryani can be made mild or extra spicy. Tell us when you order. Hyderabad dum is the mildest style to start with, and Vijayawada and gongura are the hottest.

No. We use no MSG and no artificial food colors. The color of our biryani comes from the spices and the slow cooking.

Yes. Our menu says goat, which is what many people call mutton biryani. You can get goat in gongura, avakaya and ulavacharu biryani, and in our goat pulav and goat mandi.

In a biryani, the rice and the meat or vegetables are cooked in layers with a lot of spice. A pulav is lighter: everything cooks together in one pot with fewer spices. Try our Fry-Gos or mint and coriander pulav if you want something milder.

Yes. We make biryani by the tray for birthdays, poojas, office lunches and weddings. Tell us the date and how many people on our catering page, or call us at (404) 733-7040.

Tap Order next to any biryani on this page. It opens that dish on our ordering page, where you can order it for pickup or delivery. You can also call us at (404) 733-7040 or order at the counter.
